The Bakhtiari people are natives of the Zagros Mountains, a region with a weaving tradition that stretches back thousands of years. While some later Bakhtiari rugs developed into highly refined village and even city-like productions, many remained closer to their roots, woven directly from memory rather than from a drawn pattern.
This rug belongs to that tradition. Although the composition appears balanced and largely symmetrical, closer inspection reveals subtle inconsistencies in the motifs and spacing, clear signs of a weaver working from inherited knowledge and personal interpretation rather than a formal naqsha.
