381 × 305 cm

An early DOBAG era rug from Ermenek

The DOBAG project, initiated in the 1980s, led to the creation of rugs with exceptional wool and natural dyes that dominated the looms of Turkey for a couple of decades. The rug shown here was woven in the early years of the project, with a simple geometric pattern, in the Ermenek area of southern Turkey.

A generous blue medallion rests against a warm coral field, surrounded by angular floral motifs and a lively border of colourful geometric panels. The spacious composition allows the colours and character of the wool to take centre stage.

Wool, natural dyes.
