A contemporary rug by us in the Art Deco manner
This rug is an exercise in restraint. A deep, even field of cobalt blue is left almost entirely open, framed by a darker navy border, and touched only at two opposite corners by sprays of flowering branches in cream and pale blue. It is one of our own contemporary rugs, drawn in the spirit of the Art Deco carpets that Peking weavers made in the early twentieth century, when they answered western rooms with calm colour and empty space. The lustrous wool gives the blue real depth. A serene, modern piece.
