A fine medallion carpet in the Tabriz manner
A deep burgundy field is filled with a fine tracery of palmettes, curling leaves and vine, gathered around an ivory and gold medallion with pale corner spandrels to match. A cream border of palmettes and flowering vine frames the whole. The fineness of the knotting and the controlled, elegant drawing read as the work of a Tabriz workshop in northwest Iran, the city of our own family and the heart of the Persian carpet trade. Rich in colour yet perfectly ordered, it is a carpet of real refinement.
