A small vintage Persian Luri village rug from Lorestan in western Iran, probably dating to the 1950s and woven in wool on a cotton foundation. Its open, honest composition was worked from memory, without a formal cartoon. The central medallion resembles a large flower rising from a vase at either end, while the simple border, neat weave and beautifully softened texture preserve the direct character of village weaving.
