A finely woven kilim in the Senneh manner

Woven in the finest slit tapestry, this kilim carries a stepped pole medallion down a field crowded with countless tiny flowers and boteh, in rose, indigo, soft pink and ivory. The weave is so close and even that the surface reads almost like a woven miniature, the hallmark of the Senneh weavers of Sanandaj in Kurdistan, long held to be the most refined flatweave makers of Iran. Spandrels of the same minute patterning fill the corners, and a narrow border of small motifs frames the whole. Delicate, light and quietly dazzling.

Wool, natural dyes.
