A vintage sumak assembled from Shahsavan mafrash panels dating to around the 1950s. Closely worked bands of diamonds, hooked forms and small geometric devices create a richly varied surface in red, blue, ivory and brown. Originally woven as parts of a practical storage bag, the panels have been joined and preserved as a distinctive wool-on-cotton flatweave.
