Bakhtiari Floral Village Rug, No. 19613 209x312cm

SGD 5,800.00

Lors and Bakhtiars are natives of a land whose history stretches back thousands of years. Their historic territory lies on the eastern slopes of the Zagros Mountains, on the edge of ancient Mesopotamia. The traditions of this region are deeply rooted, and among the most important of these is carpet weaving.

Over the centuries, this craft evolved from purely nomadic weavings into village rugs that, in some cases, approach the refinement of city production. The rug shown here is a fine example of this transition, displaying a floral pattern that reflects both inherited tradition and growing technical confidence.

The quality of such rugs is exceptional, owing to the use of excellent wool, predominantly natural dyes, and honest weaving techniques, resulting in a strong, well-balanced structure. This is a rug made to last for decades, improving with time as the colours mellow and deepen, and the texture becomes increasingly pleasant underfoot.
